Most all advantages throughout the GURPS supplements are allowed, though please double check with the GM about any advantages not in GURPS Basic Set, GURPS Powers, or GURPS Supers.
7 points/level
Due to the optional rule this setting uses, Knowing Your Own Strength, Lifting ST now costs 7 points per level. Note that this comes with a much greater return on Basic Lift gained per level and Lifting ST now adds (like a Talent) to any Contests of ST.
1 point/level
Due to this setting using Knowing Your Own Strength, Striking ST is now much cheaper, only 1 point per level. That said, mundane humans cannot pick up any levels of Striking ST without justification.
The following Unusual Backgrounds are always available (but others may be allowed on a per-character basis!):
- Access to Cutting-Edge Technology: You have connections (or the inventor skills) which allow you to obtain superbly made or innovative equipment for you. This is usually acquired as Signature Gear and costs 100× the price of basic equipment. 5 points.
- Alien: You are not from Earth, coming from another planet or dimension. This Unusual Background allows you to customize your racial template. 1 point.
- Inventor Friend: You know an inventor who can create new equipment for you. You have to pay for the prototype, at 150% of the the retail price for an invention at your TL, or 450% of the retail price for an invention one TL higher. In addition, you have to pay one-tenth of the cost of the facilities used to create the prototype (see p. B474); if the facilities are one TL higher than your TL, this cost is tripled. 10 points.
- Omnilingual: Your character is conveniently fluent in every human language they encounter. You have accented comprehension for both spoken and written language; if you also have Language Tlaent, raise that to native comprehension level. 40 points.
- Superscience Equipment: You have equipment that can’t be understood through known scientific principles or duplicated through existing technology. Buy it as advantages with suitable gadget limitations, including Unique. An alternative to this Unusual Background is a Patron with Special Abilities (+100%), if you get your superscience equipment from them. 10 points.
- Wildcard Skills: Your abilities allow for broad skills, allowing your character to pick up and use a limited number of Wildcard skills. 5 points.
